Hi, everyone. Thanks for joining this Society Street event. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Sam Burrell. I'm currently the program chair for Society Street. I'm just going to wait a couple of minutes to get started, so that everyone gets a chance to log in and sort out their sound and all the rest of it. You know how it is.
While we're waiting, you should be able to see on the right hand side of your screen a chat feature. You'll need to put in your name, and then you'll be able to participate in chat with the speakers and other attendees. And we really encourage you to join in and ask questions. It's kind part of why we do these events is to provide an opportunity for people to chat to each other.
So please do use that. For those of you who don't know, at the end of this session as well, a Zoom link will pop up which will take you into a chat room so that you can ask questions of the speakers and of each other. It's a really nice thing to do. It's usually quite lively, so I do encourage you to do that. So once again, thank you for joining us on this Society Street session. Today's session, and indeed,
next week's fireside chat, will focus on Society Publishing and what the fast changing landscape means for societies. So we put together two panels. Today we talk to those working within or with Society Publishing and focuses on the questions that societies should be thinking about and asking their publishers. And then next week, we'll be speaking to publishers and getting their view on the same questions.
I won't be chairing either of these sessions. This year, we've been really lucky to have a number of people who volunteered to be on our program committee to help widen the voices and ideas that Society Street shares with the community. And you'll be hearing from many of them over the coming months. So I'll start off with a big thank you to Heather Staines for putting together today and next week's sessions together and chairing them.
So she's convened a group of people who all care deeply about Society Publishing and are knowledgeable about the current state of publishing and the challenges that it presents to societies. And I can't wait to hear what they have to say. And finally, Society Street has been made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and conference partners. Wiley and Elsevier continue to support us as gold sponsors and have been joined this year by Frontiers and MDPI as gold sponsors. Atypon continue to support us as a silver sponsor, and our sustaining partners this year are 67 Bricks, Cadmore Media and TBI Communications.
We'd like to thank them all for their support. Without them would not be able to share this content so freely. For those of you who are just joining, you should see on the right hand side of your screen a chat feature. Put your name in and participate in chat. Please also do follow us on Twitter and feel free to tweet using the hashtag Society Street 2022.
So now I'm going to hand over to our speakers, which is what you've all been waiting for. Heather is joined by Matt, Kevin, Kathryn and Simon, all of whom are just waiting to introduce themselves to you and get stuck into what promises to be a great conversation. So I'll get out of the way and let them get on with it. I look forward to talking about it on chat and after the session. And then just a final reminder at the end of the conversation, at the end of the fireside chat, there'll be a Zoom meeting for those with further questions and anyone wishing to carry on the conversation and a link will just pop up and you'll be able to join it.
So I will, as I said, get out of the way. And I look forward to chatting with you at the end of the session. Take it away, Heather.
