SPEAKER 1: Hello, and welcome to RegMedNet. This month we're focusing on artificial intelligence (or AI) for cell culture imaging, and analysis. Cells hold vast amounts of visual information. And cell culture imaging has many important applications in regenerative medicine. For example, in the early stages of cell therapy development it is often utilized to create and test differentiation protocols to get functional cells for your therapy or to design standard operating procedures to optimize growth conditions.
SPEAKER 1: Imaging is also an important part of documentation and quality control processes to meet regulatory requirements before product release. But cell imaging and analysis is time-consuming, and results can often be subjective, leading to variability and user bias. Therefore, in order to get the most value out of images it's important to translate them into quantitative data. This is where using artificial intelligence comes in.
SPEAKER 1: In this In Focus feature, in association with Evident, we'll be exploring the AI systems that are helping researchers and developers make the most out of their cell culture imaging and evaluation. Using tools like Evident's CM30 cell culture monitor and scanR high-content screening software, anything that can be identified by researchers can be trained to be identified using AI. Employing tools like these helps take the subjectivity out of research and development and allows you to gather substantially more data than manual imaging and analysis procedures permit.
