I want to demonstrate the application of the Jones compression dressing. This gentleman was getting up out of bed and felt a significant pull in the posterior aspect of his thigh. He's got a lot of tenderness, and it's likely a second- to third-degree strain of his hamstring muscle. We're going to treat that with a Jones compression dressing.
The application of the Jones compression dressing is with Webril, and then a layer of elastic bandage, followed by another layer of Webril, and then, lastly, elastic bandage. The dressing goes from the superior portion of the thigh almost down to the ankle. We'll first apply a layer of the Webril.
MOANING:
BACKGROUND CHATTER: So unlike the knee immobilizer, which completely immobilizes the leg and deconditions the quadriceps, you'll have a little bit of movement at the knee, but there's a lot more support than just an elastic bandage alone.
BACKGROUND CHATTER: So that, again, is the Jones compression dressing application, in this case, for a hamstring strain.
