[Superior] thyroid artery and vein are individually divided and ligated.
Gently peeling the thyroid capsule makes the identification and preservation of the superior parathyroid gland.
The lower [pole of the] thyroid gland is pulled in a superior and medial direction. After exposing the common carotid artery to the inferior thyroid vessels, soft tissue and central compartment node dissection is gently proceeded.
Once the recurrent laryngeal nerve has been identified, the entire inferior and lateral mobilization of the thyroid gland is conducted along the thyroid capsule.
[In a very] ligament lesion great caution is required to prevent thermal injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
Contralateral lobectomy is done in a similar manner via subcapsular approach. Gentle dissection and ligation of the superior thyroid vessel is performed.
Thyroid gland is peeled from the cricothyroid muscle with identification and preservation of the superior parathyroid gland.
Gentle dissection along the medial aspect of the carotid sheath until having identified the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
Various ligaments are divided close to the thyroid capsule while retracting laterally and taking care to preserve the recurrent laryngeal nerve.
Remnant central [nodules] exist.
