Transgastric two chamber view. The transgastric two chamber view reveals the anterior wall of the left ventricle. Also seen-- the inferior wall, the anterior lateral and posterior papillary muscles, the anterior and posterior leaflets of the mitral valve, and the chordae tendineae.
The supporting structures of the mitral valve, the papillary muscles, and the chordae tendineae are very well seen in this view. In fact, we can almost discern which are primary, secondary, and tertiary chordae, which attach to the leaflets of the mitral valve. This view is also very useful in discerning if there's any regional wall motion abnormality in the anterior or inferior wall of the left ventricle.
