Here's a very interesting optic nerve finding. This is an optic nerve in an eye with ocular ischemia. You can see the dot-and-blot hemorrhages throughout. But if you look at that vessel right in the middle of that disc, you can see it pulsating. These are spontaneous venous pulsations. They're rarely this obvious, but you can really see that thing pumping away. There's a main vein and then the little feeder vessel above it.
And they are pumping away with the heart beat. Now, these pulsations went away when I applied pressure to the eyeball.
