Upper Esophageal Aortic Arch, Short Axis. The upper esophageal aortic arch short axis view reveals the aorta, the pulmonary artery, and the pulmonary valve. This view is particularly useful for Doppler interrogation of the pulmonary artery, as the Doppler signal can be directed parallel to the flow in the pulmonary artery. We're also able to see here if a pulmonary artery catheter was placed, as you can see coming in and out of view if it's in correct position.
