Aortic valve, long axis view. In this aortic valve long axis view, the left atrium, left ventricle, anterior leaflet of the mitral valve, aortic valve, approximately ascending aorta, cusp of the aortic valve with mobile vegetation, and the sinotubular junction are seen.
The aortic valve is clearly abnormal. The left, or non-coronary, cusp of the aortic valve and the right coronary cusp are identified. The leaflet abnormalities seen could be secondary to an endocarditic vegetation. Clinical correlation is, however, necessary to definitively diagnose endocarditis.
