Abnormal LV Function. This is a transgastric midpapillary muscle view. In this transgastric midpapillary view, we see the anterior, inferior, lateral, and septal walls which are all poorly contractile. The anterolateral papillary muscle is seen, although the posteromedial papillary muscle is poorly visualized. In contrast to the previous image, this left ventricle demonstrates severe dysfunction.
The right heart clings about the left ventricle in the shape of a crescent moon. Also, it is poorly contractile. The dilated dysfunctional heart does not demonstrate the muscular thickening or inward endocardial excursion, as seen in the previous image.
